Abstract

Ultrasound is a form of energy transmitted in the form of sound waves propagating through different media. In Dentistry has been studied to see its potential applications and advantages at different stages of endodontic therapy. In this paper we review scientific papers the last ten years on applications of ultrasound in the field of endodontic. Applications and advantages found in that ultrasound is a tool in the field of Endodontic are: removing restorations to enter the duct system. Locating of ducts, removal of obstructions (such as fractured instruments, intracanal medications, bolts or studs), preparation biomechanics, ultrasonic irrigation (irrigating activation), sealing duct system and endodontic surgery. Ultrasound offers several advantages and applications in the field of endodontic, being recommended and mandatory use in certain situations.
