The prevalence of cardiovascular disease increases with age. Age-related cardiovascular changes and the frequency of conditions that progress to these diseases in this age group explain this association. Patients in this segment of the population are more difficult to manage due to diagnostic difficulties and restrictions for invasive procedures. These patients are underrepresented in clinical trials and have poor tolerance to treatment because of their many comorbidities and interactions in the context of polypharmacy.
