Abstract

We present some items to understand the relationship between the idea of social progress and the practices of migration. The research has been achieved in two years. Theoretical bases were obtained on social imaginary and the data were collected working with children and young people at risk of social exclusion: 11 boys and 1 girl are between 10 and 17 years old, 2 boys over 19 and 20 years old and one more is 24 years old (as managerial). Fieldwork was carried out on Zaytoune centre and the Anjal day centre of APISF association in Tetouan (Morocco). Our first hypothesis ask about relationship between emigration and life improvement, we want to know if children in orphaned and/or abandonment situations –who live near Morocco-Spain border– consider this relationship as true, and how deep is this image in relation with migrations to Europe. Our data show that the imaginary of migration have been influenced by mass media and European associations that work in Tetouan. It is important to know how these elements contribute to create a specific idea of way of life from Europe countries in these children. At last, we found that people interviewee prefer to live in their communities in against of classical idea to migrate to Europa as the best way to progress in life. In this point people distinguish kinds of migration to Europe in order to migrate or not.
