Abstract
Introducción: Following teeth losing, the maxilla undergoes different changes such as bone resorption that in many cases will preclude the rehabilitation of patients with implant prosthetics. When rehabilitation with dental implants is proposed, it is often observed a bone resorption so marked horizontally, bone regeneration techniques for implant placement are needed. To do so, different techniques can be used, either placing a membrane and particulate bone or performing split crest. Case report: This article describes a case of a 58 years old woman fully edentulous in the maxilla and mandible, which will restore with an overdenture supported with dental implants. Horizontal maxillary bone resorption and a loss of lip support were presented. To overcome the lack of bone due to the anatomy of the bone ridge, crestal expansion using piezo surgery or threaded expanders was used to gain sufficient bone volume
