This article assesses the qualities and competences of Dido as a leader, making use of the present systems found in today’s companies employed to evaluate the leadership ability of their directors. The method used consists of an analysis of her governance and management activity during her rule over Carthage, as described in Aeneid. Through this analysis, her performance regarding the principal management functions is assessed, as well as the competency level observed in said performance.   The adaptation of a modern management assessment system to a classical model and the positive results attained by the queen reveal the relevance of Dido as a female leadership model today. Likewise, the results obtained reinforce the feasibility of combining studies of the classical world with the business sciences.  As a conclusion and in addition to the management assessment carried out on Dido, the difficulties and challenges she faced as both a queen and a woman are compared with those dealt with by the majority of women in present positions of leadership. The similarity found in said challenges once again reflects the validity of classical leadership models in the modern world.
