Abstract

We presented a case a polyethylene wearing in a cemented total knee arthroplasty without signs of failure in a 84 year old woman with osteoarthritis of the left knee underwent with a total knee arthroplasty fourteen years ago. The patient was getting worse clinically and returns to our center by pain and instability. In the x-ray signs of an important wearing of polyethylene without failure of the metallic components. The implanted model does not make in the present time and the carving of a polyethylene subject of gossip is decided so that it adapts to the tibial tray to which it is cemented. At two years of the surgery the patient is asintomatic, with good functionality and no radiological signs of femoral or tibial loosening components. We think that it is the first described case of this solution for a problem that can appear more and more frecuently during the surgeon activity.
