Nowadays, with the increase in international exchanges and cooperation, the need for translations is increasingly seen in order to achieve intercultural communication. In this sense, translation is, on the one hand, a translation process between two languages, and, on the other, between two cultures. Therefore, an adequate treatment of cultural elements is the key to achieving a good effect of translations.In different languages, there are phraseological units that are characterized by semantic specialization and idiomaticity, influenced by the parameters they contain. Between the Chinese phraseological units, Chinese idioms (chengyu) are a high-grade representation of Chinese culture, since they indicate particular linguistic customs, and that they are in charge of typical and unique elements of Chinese culture, which is why we chose these expressions as the object of our study.This thesis was born with the objective of offering translation proposals both to Chinese students of Spanish (future translators) and to translators who have the need to translate Chinese idioms into Spanish in their work. In addition, it is our desire to also make proposals for the translation of other types of phraseology with cultural elements and to achieve a translation model especially suitable for the translation from Chinese to Spanish...
