Incisivo inferior¿responsable de la estética del perfil facial?

Abstract

Obbjetive: improving facial aesthetics is one of the main reasons why the patients seek orthodontic treatment because the lower third of the face has a great influence in its harmony. The role of the incisor and aesthetics have been always related. The purpose of this study was to corroborate the possible relationship between the position of the incisors, the lips and the projection of the Chin in the different facial types has conducted this study. Material and methods: a random sample of 240 patients was selected and went to the university´s clinic for orthodontic treatment. The relationship of the lower incisor with respect to different variables related to the aesthetics of the soft profile according to their growth pattern was analyzed in all of them. Results: the position of the lower incisor is highly correlated with chin projection, position of upper and lower lip, and mentolabial angle independent biotype. Conclusions: the position of the lower incisor is fundamental in the lower third of the facial aesthetics profile.
