Abstract

A case report using a surgical guide for positioning miniscrews is presented. This guide was designed using a digital model obtained with an intraoral scanner and a cone beam computed tomography (cbct) record. Cbct provides information in the three planes of space to position the mini-implant with high accuracy. The use of a threedimensional model provides not only high precision, but it also allows to visualize in three dimensions the best position of the head of the mini-implant. The use of a digital impression has the additional advantage of obtaining an accurate digital model in patients with fi xed appliances. This guide is very simple for the orthodontist to use and allows to obtain high precision in mini-implant insertion.
