Resum

Serous cysts are more common epithelial tumors of the ovary. Most of these cysts are benign. Occacionally these lesions may grow to a large size. Sometimes the differential diagnosis with other cystic lesions is difficult. We report a 26-year-old woman, who came to the surgery clinic with 3 months history of abdominal swelling. Ultrasound and CT scan revealed the presence of al large mesenteric cyst occupying the entire abdominal cavity. Tumors markers showed no abnormalities. Midline laparotomy was performed finding that the tumor dependent left annex. Tthe tumor was removed. Pathological examination showed an ovarian serous cystadenoma weighing 5,6 kg. The postoperative course was uneventful. We discuss the symptoms, differential diagnosis, therapeutic options and complications.
