Abstract
Laparoscopic surgery is a safe and reproducible technique, being the method of treatment for many surgical procedures, including antireflux techniques. The lesion of small vessels of the abdominal wall is relatively frequent when introducing the trocars, however the lesion of vessels of greater caliber is an exceptional accident, which can cause hemodynamic instability and endanger the life of the patient. There is a consensus among the surgical societies, in which the treatment of choice of abdominal wall hematomas is the conservative one, once the stability of the patient has been achieved. In this paper we present the case of hematoma of the rectus abdominis muscle in a 48-year-old patient undergoing gastroesophageal reflux, caused during the introduction of the laparoscopic trocar and managed successfully by conservative treatment. The etiopathogenic factors, diagnostic methods and therapeutic options are reviewed.
