Laburpena

The accidental ingestion of a foreign body in the adult constitutes a relatively frequent event. Fortunately, most of them are eliminated spontaneously through the gastrointestinal tract, without any apparent complication. Occasionally, they can cause damage that endangers the life of the patient. We present the case of a patient who presented an intussusception, caused by the impaction of an accidentally ingested bivalve shell. We review the aspects related to the diagnosis and treatment of these accidents
