Resumo

Technology in today’s educational environments is seem as vitally relevant and important, and the field of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign/Second language is no exception. Tech solutions abound and include apps –mainly used for gamification–, social networks and many other kinds of the virtual campus. While their omnipresence is evident, the jury is still out as to their real effectiveness in language teaching and learning. This article looks at the use of technology in the classroom from a theoretical and critical perspective, analyzing its pros and cons in the teaching-learning process. The conclusion will find that rigorous use of digital resources is a powerful tool in the arsenal of the language teacher in pursuit of essential didactic objectives. The importance rendered to technology in language teaching is, then, justified and paramount
